Here are my top picks for a fun, budget-friendly fall day with the family!

1. Cider Hill Family Orchard - Kansas City, KS

Address: 3341 N 139th St, Kansas City, KS 66109
Admission: Free (Pumpkins, apples, donuts, etc. available for purchase)

Cider Hill Family Orchard is a must-visit this fall. With its scenic pumpkin patch, apple picking, hayrides, and even a kid's train ride, there’s plenty to keep the little ones entertained. For those who love fishing, there's a peaceful pond, and the orchard's fire pit is the perfect spot to warm up as the day cools down. Be sure to stop by the Orchard Gift Shop, where you can indulge in seasonal treats like apple cider donuts, apple pie nachos, fresh-pressed cider, kettle corn, and BBQ lunches.

2. Powell Pumpkin Patch - Louisburg

Powell Pumpkin Patch is a great option for a classic pumpkin-picking experience. In addition to a wide selection of U-pick pumpkins, they also have gourds and mums to decorate your home. There is a corn maze, nature trail, and hayrides plus a small play area for little kids.

Be sure to check their open hours as they vary depending on the day, but you can count on mid-September through the end of October for all the fall fun.

This no-frills experience is all about the pumpkins!

The farm animals are a huge hit with the kids, and there’s no admission fee or hidden costs, making it an affordable family outing.

5. Weston Red Barn Farm - Weston
