Meadowbrook Park Inclusive Playground - Prairie Village, KS

Enjoy one of Kansas City’s newest inclusive playgrounds at Meadowbrook Park in Prairie Village, Kansas! My children absolutely loved this all-ages and all-abilities park. It truly has something for every child with enough space to spread out and engage in various play features. You will want to plan a trip to this playground in Kansas City! Here is everything you need to know for your visit to Meadowbrook Park’s Inclusive Playground.

This brand new, destination playground is located in the 80-acre Meadowbrook Park development. There are other incredible parks on this acreage but this is the newest addition to the developing area. It was perfect for my kids ages 4 & 2, but we also met lots of babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and older children! All ages and abilities are welcome at this park!

On the left side of the park you will find a playset that is wheelchair accessible and perfect for children ages 2-5. Both of my kids loved all of the interactive features! Lots of music, climbing, spinning, and ways to truly “feel” this park. I was impressed by how much was available for smaller children as some of these inclusive parks tend to be more focused on older children.

The Johnson County Parks & Recreation Department has really invested a lot into the quality equipment at this inclusive park! We loved the Sway Fun ride, rolling bar slide, music stations, and turf hills to climb. We were able to stay for over three hours because my kids were having such a great time! You could pack a picnic and sit at one of the park tables or under the shelter house. The Market at Meadowbrook is right down the street and would be an easy walk from this park for a snack, coffee, or lunch.

Some of the top features at Meadowbrook Park Inclusive Playground:

☁️Completely fenced in with one way in/out
☀️ Rubber terrain with turf hills
☁️ Picnic Tables with shade and multiple benches
☀️A large(!!) toddler/preschool section for ages 2-5
☁️Stunning climbing playset for ages 5-12
☀️Inclusive featuring: ramps, wide slides, wheelchair sections on the ride on toys, ropes for pulling/climbing, lots more
☁️Family style restrooms with adult-size changing tables and a toddler/baby wall seat
☀️Lots of shade tents and two water misters
☁️Located next to Shelter 4 with ample shaded seating

The restroom building was very spacious! Plenty of space for a wheelchair and there is an adult size changing table available as well as a toddler seat. This park has many exciting features and lots of space to play. The best time to go to avoid crowds is in the early morning or late evening.

A few cons for Meadowbrook Park Inclusive Playground

  • Trash cans are outside of the park so trash can collect at the tables

  • While there are shade tents, it can still get pretty hot without additional shade trees.

  • Restrooms are outside of the fence so my friend and I took turns taking a kid to the bathrooms.
