Field of Dreams - Wyandotte County Park Inclusive Playground

Hey batta batta! If you live near Kansas City and love baseball, this park is for you! One of Kansas City's most unique inclusive playgrounds is Wyandotte County Parks' "Field of Dreams.” It was completed in 2020 and since it is nestled within Wyandotte County Park, it’s out of the way from major traffic. I love that it is fenced in so you can keep track of kids while they play! If you are heading to a KC Monarchs game soon, this park is only 7 minutes away!

This fenced-in park has baseball stadium features like a ticket booth with spinning “tickets”, a scorekeeper on the upper level, Kansas City Royals-inspired golden crown toppers, and a blue color scheme. You’ll also notice the three “bases” with rock climbing in case you need to steal a base to climb to the top!

This inclusive playground is not your average play space; it's a vibrant tribute to the sport of baseball, designed to be accessible and enjoyable for children of all abilities. Wheelchair-friendly ramps ensure that everyone can join in on the fun, while a communication board fosters inclusivity and interaction among children of all abilities. From climbing structures to musical elements, swings to slides, there's no shortage of ways to play and explore.

This park is fenced in on all sides but does have a few exit points. The ramp leading to the upper section of the playground is open towards the parking lot, so please be watchful of toddlers or kids who run off.

Key features:

- wheelchair-friendly ramps

- communication board

- lots of climbing options

- musical elements

-swings and saucer swing

- in-ground merry-go-round

- three slides and one rolling bar side

- rubber surface

- paved parking lot

- restrooms (seasonally)

- skate park just down the hill

Note: this park does require some agility since a lot of elements require climbing. Most climbing elements wouldn't be suitable for toddlers or those with impaired climbing abilities. My kids (ages 5 & 3) enjoyed this park and I loved how peaceful it was out at Wyandotte County Park!
